ReNovo Orthopaedic Center opens
State-of-the-art 25,000 sq. ft. orthopedic center opens, ReNovo Orthopaedic Center offers comprehensive services

“Green-focused” Center features 21st Century technology, latest radiology, diagnostic, hydrotherapy and therapeutic facilities

SHELBYVILLE (Indiana) – From state-of-the-art radiology facilities to wind turbines powering equipment, the new $7 million ReNovo Orthopaedic Center on I-74 now offers a high-tech comprehensive line of orthopedic, diagnostic and therapeutic services, according to Jack Horner, president and CEO of Major Health Partners.

The new 25,000 sq. ft. technologically advanced facility was designed by Ratio Architects from the ground up to represent the best available technology and integrated services in orthopedic care. The new facility also includes numerous “green” environmentally friendly features, including wind turbines to provide power to the electrical grid serving the Center.

“This is not an office building that has been converted for medical use,” explained Horner. “The Major Hospital Board of Directors focused on building an advanced facility that was specifically designed to promote excellence in orthopedic and rehabilitation care.”

The new center, which will open for business on July 13, is now home to three orthopedic practices of Major Health Partners: FORCE (Family Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Center), a surgical practice; the SportWorks Rehabilitation Center; and Major Sports Medicine.

“These are all established orthopedic and therapeutic practices within Major Health Partners, and the new ReNovo Center brings them together in a uniquely integrated way to facilitate the highest-quality patient care,” said Horner.

“The ReNovo phrase ‘revive, renew, restore’ describes perfectly what is now available at the new Center,” explained Dennis Schnepp, Vice President of Physician Services for Major Hospital. “Through the three established practices and supporting physician groups from Major Health Partners, ReNovo offers comprehensive services from joint replacement to rehabilitating work- or sports-related injuries.”

The concentration of physicians, surgeons and clinical professionals under one roof within the center is expected to develop what Horner called “a professional holistic approach to orthopedic care.”

“We’re confident that these top professionals working together will create a synergy of services that will elevate the quality of high-level care available to patients in the region,” Horner added.

High-speed fiber-optic connectivity links the ReNovo Center to Major Hospital and other regional healthcare facilities, enabling surgeons and physicians to transmit secure high-resolution images to facilitate treatment and diagnosis.

The ReNovo Center – a name which was adapted from a French word that means “revive, renew, restore” – also features a state-of-the-art computer-assisted hydrotherapy pool built and installed by HydroWorx. HydroWorx has installed similar facilities for professional sports teams to accelerate recovery from severe sprains and other injuries.

“There are only a few facilities in the Midwest that have advanced capabilities like these, so we expect to be very competitive in offering the highest quality of orthopedic care in Central Indiana,” explained Horner.

“With the Boomer generation moving into the time when orthopedic care becomes very important, this new Center represents a good strategic move to meet the changing needs of our community and region,” said Gene Jones, Chairman of the Major Hospital Board of Directors.

The regional need for work-related rehabilitation and high-end orthopaedic services will likely increase with the growth of the Honda plant in Greensburg and other industrial facilities in Central Indiana, according to Horner.

“The convenient location of the ReNovo Center right off the Interstate will make Major Hospital’s full line of services very accessible to a broad region,” said Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson. “With the Center’s top surgeons, physicians, and rehab professionals, there will be no need to drive to all the way to Indianapolis or Hamilton County for quality care.”

A new orthopedic surgical suite at Major Hospital – including a $300,000 orthopedic operating facility, state-of-the-art fracture table and hospital staff and private rooms dedicated for orthopedic surgery patients – completes the necessary services required to offer a full line of high-end orthopedic services, said Horner.

The ReNovo Center adds to the full spectrum of superb medical, healthcare and related services available through Major Health Partners in Shelby County. “While Major Hospital will always be the anchor of our healthcare operations, the expansion of services like what will be offered at the ReNovo Center demonstrates our commitment to fully serving the needs of the region,” said Jones.
